Warning Task Cache bust Not Found Use force to Continue

Hi Dave,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

As per your concern to delete the scheduled task, try the below and check if it helps.

Method 1:

I suggest you to follow the path to go to task folder to delete the content within that and check if it helps.

1. Press Windows + E to open File Explorer, click on This PC in the left pane.

2. Click on C: drive (Drive where Windows is installed)

3. Double click on Windows folder, select System32, click on Task.

4. Double click on Task folder, delete the content within the folder and restart the computer.

Method 2:

This issue might occur, when some of the Windows files got corrupted. I suggest you to perform System File Checker (sfc) scan.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

To perform SFC Scan, refer to the below link:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

Note: Steps mentioned for Windows 8/8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.

Hope it helps. Feel free to contact us for any assistance on Windows Operating System, we will be happy to help you.

thanks for the reply.

I tried method 1, deleted some of the offending tasks, rebooted, and still get errors about Scheduled task no longer exists.

(I worry about deleting important system tasks (there are a bunch from Microsoft), so I just tried the ones related to Apple and Office, figuring I can reinstall the software and it will resolve once deleted and no errors.)

I tried method 2 and it found no errors.

Any other ideas

I had the same problem and tried various MS and other recommendations with no success - including deleting the contents of everything in theC:\Windows\System32\Tasks folder. (It has yet to refresh!) Using a little "Microsoft thinking" I decided to look through the registry and finally found the Task Cache!Needless to say be careful! The registry keys are in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tasks

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree

The easiest way to find the tasks you're looking for is to go to each of the above and search for the name of the task. Being paranoid by nature I exported each key before deleting it. When finished I did a restart (also admittedly a paranoid move.) I now have NO errors when starting the Task Scheduler! Yeah!

Well I went through and edited the registry for all the errors.  This cleared them up, I am however concerned that these are no longer scheduled, should they be?

Method 2 is not acceptable, he just upgraded, is it the path of upgrade to check before hand if system files are OK. It is responses like this that, ending the trust between partners and Microsoft ability to provide a suitable upgrade.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the update and response.

I see that you are still facing issues related to the task manager.

I see that you get the error "The task object version is either unsupported or invalid"

The following error occurs in Toad as soon Schedule button is selected in Automation module. User can schedule tasks successfully outside of Toad. He can also create tasks using command prompt "schtasks" command. User has full Admin rights on the machine.

Please follow the below methods and check if it resolves the issues.
Method 1: Remove tasks manually through command prompt and refresh Tasks Scheduler
1. Go to c:\windows\tasks folder
2. Enter: dir /a
3. Use DEL command to remove any unknown or unused task files with .JOB extension or use DEL *.JOB to remove all task files. *
4. Go back to Select Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Service
5. Locate Task Scheduler, right-click on it and select Refresh

Method 2:
I even see that you get the error "Scheduled task no longer exists", Please refer the below link for the same.
